It was a week for banking chairmen to show their loyalties with Royal Bank of Scotland chairman Sir Philip Hampton dipping into the market, spending over £92,000 to buy 250,000 RBS shares at 36.85p. Lloyds Banking Group chairman Sir Win Bischoff bought the same number of shares at the start of the week, but with Lloyds trading at about 89p, he spent some £224,000. RBS director John McFarlane also bought 50,000 shares, for about £18,900.
