Consumer stocks start to turn the cycle

As defensive stocks continue to fall in value, cyclical stocks – those that are exposed to consumer spending, such as retail and leisure – have become a focus of investor interest again.

Fund managers say they are picking over “the carcases” of de-rated companies to identify holdings that could outperform when markets start to recover.
